Good Cook · last updated 7 October 2026
Good Cook is a single-player cooking game. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers. The only thing about you it ever sends anywhere is the entry you choose to put on the public best-list: a name you type yourself and the score you just got.
What the game stores on your device
Your progress is kept in your browser's or the app's local storage, on your device only. It never leaves it, and we cannot read it. It contains:
- your best score, the furthest shift you reached and how many of each dish you served;
- the restaurant in progress, so you can close the game and reopen at the start of your current shift;
- the name you last used for the best-list;
- your sound settings.
Clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling the app, erases all of it.
What the game sends to the server
The all-time best list is kept on our server. When a game ends and you submit a score, the app sends:
- the name you typed (up to 16 characters — pick a nickname, there is no requirement to use a real name);
- your score and the shift you reached;
- a random game id generated on your device, so a retried game updates its own entry instead of adding a second one. It is not tied to you or to your device and is thrown away when the game ends.
That is the entire payload. The app does not send your email, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising ID, or any other personal data, because it never asks for or collects any of it.
Submitted entries are shown publicly on the best list inside the game. As with any web server, our host records standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, user agent) for security and abuse prevention; these are kept briefly and are not used to profile you or combined with your best-list entry.
Third parties
The game's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser or the app fetches them directly from Google, which means Google's servers see the request (including your IP address) the way any website visit does. Google states that it does not use these requests to build advertising profiles. Nothing else about you is sent, and there is no other third-party service in the game — no ad network, no analytics, no crash reporter, no social SDK.
Permissions
The Android app requests only internet access, which it uses solely to load and submit the best list. The rest of the game runs offline.
Children
Good Cook is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, children included. Because the name field is free text and shown publicly, we ask that players not enter real names or any other personal detail.
Removing your entry
If you would like a best-list entry taken down, email the address below with the name and score shown and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's store listing.
